Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't an image or video download?

Some websites use aggressive anti-scraping techniques, restrict media behind logins, or load content dynamically via lazy loading. Make sure the page has fully loaded and scroll through the page before tapping the collect button. If content is gated behind authentication, log in first before scanning.

Where are my downloads saved?

You can save media directly to your iOS Photo Library or to a dedicated "SourceExtract" folder in your Files app. Permissions can be managed in your iOS Settings under Privacy & Security.

Why are some images skipped during deduplication?

SourceExtract identifies duplicates based on exact source URLs. If the same image is hosted at different URLs, both may appear. However, identical URLs are only shown once to keep results clean and organized. You can adjust deduplication behavior in the app's scan settings.

What file formats does SourceExtract support?

SourceExtract detects and downloads PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, SVG, BMP, ICO, TIFF, HEIC, MP4, MOV, WebM, and more. The scanner identifies media by content type, so even files with unusual extensions are recognized.

Can I scan password-protected pages?

Yes. SourceExtract is a full browser, so you can log in to any website normally. Once authenticated, tap the sparkle button to scan the page. Your credentials are handled by the standard iOS web view and are never accessed by the scanner.

Does SourceExtract work on iPad?

Absolutely. SourceExtract is designed for both iPhone and iPad with adaptive layouts that take advantage of the larger screen. All features work identically across both devices.
